Community Support Makes the Difference

Your contributions make possible everything needed to run KLSN Community Radio including:

  • Locally produced community programming.
  • Sports broadcasting for six local high schools.
  • Resources for local high school and college journalism, recording arts students to learn radio broadcasting skills along with the confidence it builds.
  • Training for adults interested in learning new radio skills or for developing local programs.
  • Studio expenses like music licensing fees, microphones, headphones, cables and wires, transmitters and antennas, and bills for telephones, internet and utilities.

A Word about Student Radio...

According to Neilson Reports, radio is the most accessed form of media in the United States and leads television, internet, smartphones, and cable. Of course, the reason is sitting in your driveway (What's the first thing most drivers do after starting their cars?). Commercial radio reported $14 billion in sales for 2015. The San Francisco Bay Area is the 4th largest media market in the United States with over 100 radio stations. Yet, in all that, there are only 8 college radio stations. Internships at commercial stations are difficult to obtain and many do not provide hands-on radio experience.

Your support enables KLSN Radio to give East County journalism and recording arts students the opportunity to gain the hands-on experience that provides a hiring edge in a competitive industry.
